"If you don't step out of your comfort zone and face your fears, the number of situations that make you uncomfortable will keep growing." –Theo Pistorius

Fonnis Choo, 29, left her home country of Singapore to achieve her dreams of becoming a designer at Northeastern University. Gathering experience in something she was passionate about, allowed her to explore her options in a field she wanted to be involved. Designing was more than fashion to her, so in order to find something that didn't feel to be superficial, she decided to explore graduate programs to enhance her knowledge of the overall meaning of the design. Experiencing other cultures far from home has been something she always wanted to experience, and upon researching graduate programs, she decided to choose Northeastern's program in Experience Design. Something that caught her eye about the program was the challenges she knew she would be involved in as the program was described to be conducted at a holistic level using a specific system.
Moreover, she was also very impressed with the Co-op opportunities the program offered, which as it is to prepare her for her future career. During the duration of the program, Fonnis has enjoyed the type of problem-solving material she has to work on every day and aspires to design products that will hopefully change the world. Upon experiencing the American culture, she wants to continue to travel the world working on different projects on several continents, making her Europe her next destination. Her transition to the Massachusetts area has been challenging but rewarding at the same time; she hasn't yet to experience the many wonders in Boston but hopes to do so soon.
